Syringomyelia: diagnosis and management

In the pre-MR era syringomyelia often presented late, as a crippling neurological disorder. Today, most cases are diagnosed earlier, with less pronounced deficits. We therefore new challenges, including understanding significance of various presenting symptoms, knowing when surgery might help and being aware other treatments that could benefit someone living effects syringomyelia, or its underlying cause.
